About Year of Deer
Year of Deer is an independent buying-guide site for trail cameras and hunting blinds. We help you compare models and choose one with less guesswork.
We write for landowners, hunters and backyard wildlife watchers who are shopping before the season. You don't need a gear-shop vocabulary, because we explain terms like trigger speed, no-glow flash and detection range in plain words.
What we cover
Our guides cover cellular, WiFi and SD card trail cameras, and pop-up and see-through ground blinds. We also cover the small things that go with them, like batteries, memory cards, mounts and security boxes.
Many guides compare two models or two camera types side by side, so you can see the trade-offs before you buy.
What we do
We read the product details, specs and maker information for every camera and blind we cover. We also look at what buyers often say after using one.
Then we turn it all into plain guides and clear picks. You can read more on our How we research page.
What we don't do
We don't make or sell cameras or blinds, and no maker pays us to rank its products.
Year of Deer is an independent site. We aren't affiliated with Moultrie, Tactacam, Spypoint, Stealth Cam, GardePro, Ameristep, TIDEWE or any other maker.
We don't give legal advice. Rules on trail cameras and hunting differ by state, so check with your state wildlife agency before you buy or set anything up.
We don't claim to have tested every product ourselves. When we pick something, we tell you why, based on its specs, its features and buyer feedback.
How we earn money
Some links on this site go to stores like Amazon. If you buy through them, we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you.
That never changes which products we pick. Our affiliate disclosure has the details.
